Flag-Smasher is a fictional character, a supervillain appearing in the Marvel Comics universe. He has most often been a foe of Captain America. Other adversaries include the Punisher and Moon Knight.

History

Flag-Smasher was the son of a wealthy Swiss banker-turned-diplomat. Because of his father's profession, he was forced to move around a lot while growing up, which caused him to become introverted. He wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become a diplomat, but this changed when his father was trampled to death in a riot at a Latverian embassy. He then came to believe that humanity needed to do away with the concept of countries and nationalism, which he thought made people feel superior to those of different nationalites. Today, Flag-Smasher uses terrorism to spread anti-nationalist sentiment; to this end he founded ULTIMATUM, the Underground Liberated Totally Integrated Mobile Army To Unite Mankind. Roxxon Oil turne him into a berserker with super-strength, but he later lost these powers.

Eventually, he became ruler of Rumekistan, but was assassinated by Domino as part of a series of events which installed Cable as leader of that nation.
