Flag days are usually codified in national statutes, however, a decree by a head of state of the specific country can also order flag days. The display of the national flag on this day, mainly to fix it at either full or half staff. The locations of where the flags are flown (and how are they flown) can be also dictated by national law or decree.
Different countries have a different day called Flag Day to honor their flags:
- Flag Day in Argentina: June 20 (a national holiday since 1938)
- Flag Day in Aruba: March 18
- Flag Day in Australia; September 3
- Flag Day in Brazil: November 19
- Flag Day in Canada: February 15
- Flag Day in Chile: October 18
- Flag and Hymn Day in Curacao: July 2
- Flag Day in Denmark: June 15
- Flag Day in Ecuador: October 31
- Flag Day in the Faroe Islands: April 25
- Flag Day in Haiti: May 18
- Hawaiian Flag Day: July 31 (known locally as La Hae Hawai'i)
- Flag Day in Mexico: February 24
- Flag Day in Panama: November 4
- Flag Day in Paraguay: August 14
- Flag Day in Peru: June 7
- Flag Day in the Philippines: May 28
- Flag Day in Romania: June 26 (known locally as Ziua Tricolorului)
- Flag Day in Poland: May 2
- Flag Day in Sweden: June 6
- Flag Day in the United States: June 14
- Flag Day in Venezuela: March 12
