The flag of Belgrade is consisted of three Serbian national colors (red, blue, white). Blue sky symbolizes hope and faith in better future. Red color of the ground is a symbol of the suffering of Serbian people in a struggle for freedom. Rivers (Sava and Danube) are symbol of the strength of Belgrade, and they are white according to the heraldry rules. White walls and towers are marks of a white city (Beograd is Serbian for "white city"). Walls represent merchant city, tower and open gate represent open market. Ship, Roman trireme speaks about antiquity of the city.
