Florence Balcome

Florence Balcome was the wife of Bram Stoker. Previously she had been loved by the author/playwright Oscar Wilde.

Balcome is also responsible for the destruction of most of the prints for the horror film Nosferatu. Acting for the widow, Bram Stoker's estate sued Prana-Film GmbH, the production company, for copyright infringement. At the time, Dracula had not yet fallen into public domain and the movie and book share certain similairities. In some versions of the film even the names were kept the same. Because Balcome won the case, the production company was forced to declare bankruptcy.
