Synopsis
After the death of their respective sisters, Piper and Billie go their separate ways, both determined to get their families back together. Piper and Leo have an emotional reunion before she enlists Coop's help to travel back in time and change the events that led to the deaths of Phoebe and Paige. Along the way, Piper and Leo encounter Patty, Grams, and even older versions of themselves. Meanwhile, Billie goes to Dumain to ask for his help in bringing back her sister, Christy. Dumain tells Billie that she must use her powers to travel back in time to warn the Triad of their impending doom. Billie, however, becomes suspicious of Dumain's motives, realizing that he has been manipulating her and her sister all along.Piper, Leo, Patty, and Grams return to the manor moments before the explosion which killed Phoebe, Paige, and Christy occurs. Piper, along with her mother and grandmother, recites the spell to return the Hollow to its resting place. The sisters are planning their next move when future Chris and Wyatt appear. The Charmed Ones learn that Wyatt has lost his powers in the future because of Billie and Christy's actions. More determined than ever to defeat their enemies, and with the help of Billie, they vanquish Dumain and the Triad. Christy attacks Billie out of anger, and Billie is forced to kill her sister.
With the danger over, Grams and Patty are returned to their own times, with no memory of future events. Phoebe and Coop are married in a ceremony at Magic School after learning that their love was approved by the Elders and therefore not forbidden at all, and the Charmed Ones decide to write down their story in the Book of Shadows. As they do so, the audience gets a glimpse into what the future holds. Phoebe will have three daughters and continue her career as a columnist, although she will help people find love instead of giving general advice. Paige will get in touch with her Whitelighter half, whilst having a son, Henry, Jr., and twin daughters with her husband Henry. Piper will open the restaurant she has always dreamed of, and will have a third child, Melinda, with her husband Leo. Leo reopens Magic School and becomes a teacher there, while Billie is seen babysitting Phoebe's daughters. The episode ends with a much older Piper reading to her young granddaughter from the Book of Shadows and as in all the previous season finales, a door is closed magically, this time by Piper's granddaughter.

Spells
- Spell to Return the Hollow: (in Latin; actual words are educated guesses)
Artifacts
- The Hollow: an ancient vapor and the most powerful force of unknown origin which absorbs all forms of magic it comes in contact with, whether it be good or evil. It appears in a swarm of vapor-like particles floating in mid-air, but can also reside inside a living being, thus possessing their corporeal form. It is eternal and cannot be destroyed by any known means, rather it can only be contained when powerful representatives from both sides of good and evil join forces. It actually possesses no mind or personality but rather acts like a virus, mindlessly consuming all magic it touches, thus was always referred to as the "void" by the Seer and the Avatars. It is kept in an ancient burial ground as a pact agreed upon by both sides and is heavily guarded by powerful beings. It has been said that this is the "ultimate power" that will be the end of good and evil, thus creating a void as a reality.

Trivia
- This is the series finale of Charmed.
- Leo is seen teaching a young boy with the power of telekinetic orbing, suggesting that whitelighter-witch couples become more common in the future. However, it has been stated in spoiler scripts that he is Piper and Leo's grandchild.
- This is the 178th episode of Charmed to be aired. The first episode produced was an unaired pilot, bringing the total number of Charmed episodes in existence to 179.
- Traditionally, the door of the Halliwell manor is seen closing in the final shot at the end of a season. In this episode, the door is closed by Piper's granddaughter, who uses telekinesis much like Prue did in earlier seasons.
- Phoebe marries Coop, a man with a name beginning with a "C", as prophesied before Melinda Warren's birth in the third season episode "All Halliwell's Eve".
- Piper travels back in time to save Phoebe and Paige. Similarly, in the episode "A Witch In Time", Piper had to travel back in time to save her sisters from death.
- Piper and Leo travel to the year 1975 and visit Patty and Victor, shortly before the time that the sisters visited in "That 70's Episode" (Season 1).
- In the episode "Hyde School Reunion" the character Chris Halliwell tells his grandfather that Piper dies when he is 14 years old, leaving him to be raised by his grandfather. This episode shows that the future where Piper dies doesn't come to pass as she survives to be an old woman.
- This is the second time that Patty is shown using her freezing power, which was first seen in a flashback episode, "P3 H²O" in Season 2.
- This is the first time Future Wyatt and Chris travel back in time together.
- When Patty asked Victor "How do I look?", it was an allusion to Finola Hughes' own make-over television show on the Style Network called How Do I Look?
- The final shot of the show (the camera panning away from the Manor)is actually recycled from the 4th season finale "Witch Way Now?". However, the CG Angel of Destiny has been removed and the shot's lighting has been edited.
- In the season 7 episode "Cheaper by the Coven", Piper tells Grams that she once had a chat with her about being a witch. In this episode, Grams tells young Piper about how one day she will possess special gifts. This is quite likely the fixing of a continuity error.
- At first, when Piper knocks at Victor's door, we see that she interrupts him from drinking tea as he is bothered. The same scene is later used when Patty and her two grandsons visit Victor.
