Fox Entertainment Group is an American entertainment industry company that owns film studios and terrestrial, cable, and direct broadcast satellite television properties. It is wholly owned and controlled by American (formerly Australian) media conglomerate News Corporation, since the company acquired all the stock of Fox. It is named after William Fox, born Wilhelm Fried, who created the original Fox Film Corporation.
After 1996, Saban joint ventured with the Fox Children's Network to form Fox Kids Worldwide, which in 1999 was renamed Fox Family Worldwide. In August 2001, Disney acquired Fox Family (now ABC Family) from News Corp and Saban.
