Freedom Square, Kharkiv

-->Ploshcha Svobody (#redirect ; Russian: , Ploshchad Svobody) or Freedom Square in Kharkiv is the largest city-centre square in Europe, and second in the world after Tiananmen Square in China.
Originally named Felix Dzerzhinsky square after the founder of the Bolshevik secret police (the Cheka, precursor to the KGB), it was renamed after Ukraine became independent in 1991.
A monumental statue of Lenin was erected in the square in 1964.
