Encyclopedia : F : FR : FRI : Friedrich Karl Ludwig, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck
Friedrich Karl Ludwig, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck (August 20, 1757 - April 24, 1816) , was the son of Karl Anton August, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck, and Friederike von Dohna-Schlobitten.
Friedrich married Countess Friederike von Schlieben (February 28, 1757 - December 17, 1827) on March 9, 1780 in Königsberg. The marriage, at the time, was regarded somewhat lousy, as th Schliebens were not of ancient high nobility, but some recent elevations.
Friedrich was succeeded as duke by his son, Friedrich Wilhelm, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.
Through his great-granddaughter Alexandra of Denmark, he is an ancestor to the modern-day British royal family, namely Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Prince William of Wales.
