Frobenius morphism
Encyclopedia : F : FR : FRO : Frobenius morphism
In mathematics, the Frobenius morphism is typically viewed as a ring endomorphism of a commutative ring of prime characteristic [p] given by
- [x \mapsto x^p].
There are applications to singularity theory and there have been surprising results relating singularities occurring in the minimal model program and relating how Frobenius acts on certain ideals. There are also numerous applications to purely algebraic considerations.
