Fuchu, Hiroshima (city)

Fuchū (府中市; -shi) is a city located in Hiroshima, Japan.

This city was originally the capital of the Bingo Province.

The city was founded on March 31, 1954. Fuchū, Tōkyō became a city the following day.

On April 1, 2004, the town of Jōge in Kōnu district was merged into Fuchū. As of this merger but with 2003 population data, the city has an estimated population of 47,882 and the density of 245 people per km². The total area is 195.71 km².
