Encyclopedia : F : FU : FUL : Fulham Road
Fulham Road is a street in London, England, that runs from the A219 road in Fulham, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, through Chelsea to Brompton Road and the A4 in Brompton, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Fulham Road runs parallel to the Kings Road, going west from the area called Brompton Cross. There are plenty of antique dealers and specialist interior furnishing stores which help to give Fulham Road a rather sedate atmosphere. Between the Brompton and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals the area of Fulham Road is referred to as "The Beach", due to its relaxed continental atmosphere, especially in summer.
The nearest tube station is at South Kensington.
The A308 follows Fulham Road from Brompton Road to Chelsea. Fulham Road is known for the following landmarks:
- Stamford Bridge football ground, home of Chelsea F.C.
- The first ever Habitat store, opened by Terence Conran on May 11 1964
- Cineworld Cinema
- Fulham Broadway tube station
- [Chelsea and Westminster Hospital]
