GMA Pinoy TV, incorporated in February 1996 by the GMA Network, is an international Filipino television station. Drawing on programming from the most-watched TV network in the Philippines, the channel broadcasts in Japan, Malaysia, Guam and the United States, where its opening month in August 2005 set records for call volume and customer sales.[link] It is near to begin broadcasting in Canada. Since February 2006 GMA Pinoy TV is part of the Arabian Pay-TV Orbit Network. GMA Pinoy TV, PBO and Pinoy Prime are available via satellite Arabsat, covering parts of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. In the United States it is a part of DirecTV's international channel lineup and is packaged with other channels known as The Filipino Direct.
It is said to have a record-breaking number of subscribers in the United States, Japan, and Malaysia, and has gained a number of awards from the Asian Television Awards, which included the Terrestrial Channel of the Year in Singapore.[link]
GMA Pinoy TV has more than 91,000 subscribers,GMA Pinoy TV's American market continues to grow, as the large Filipino-American market has a continued demand for the network.
