There a currently a total of 8 races on Galactic Conquest, 2 of which are currently unplayable for players. Some races can only be accessed if the proper missions are completed, and some missions are only available to those with a paid account.
Free Races
Terran: The beginning race that everyone starts with. Has a balanced ship selection, with positive race modifiers. One of the most common races in the game, along with the virals.
Difficulty Setting: Easy
Aspha Miners (Act 1, Mission 5): The Aspha Miners are a peaceful race, preferring to make money by selling minerals and consumer goods on the intergalactic market. As a result, their ships are considered weaker than usual by many players, and they are played more defensively than other races. They are considered very rich.
Difficulty Setting: Easy
Special Abilities: Rapid mineral generation (+1000%), Efficient industry (+250%)
Collective (Act 1, Mission 9): The Collective are a half organic, half robotic race made aeons ago by an ancient race for military purposes during their wars. As a result, they are unable to explore for planets. The Collective excel at agricultural production, and can also make a living by plundering planets. They have the fewest unique ships in the game (5 total), and also build up rather slowly, making them rare in the upper-levels of play. However, they have the ability to capture enemy ships in battle with their H. class technology, allowing them to have more diverse stacks.
Difficulty Setting: Hard
Special Abilities: Assimilate ships in battle (only if you win the battle), must assimilate colonies/planets to gain economic benefits, population grows to 2x maximum allowed
Paid Races
Marauders (Act 2, Mission 2): The marauders are a warlike race, and prefer not to keep large amounts of planets at their disposal. Instead, they make their money by plundering planets. As a result of their nomadic nature, they have lost the ability to explore for planets. Their ships have one of the lowest upkeeps in the game, making their flagships extremely treasured by the virals.
Difficulty Setting: Medium
Special Abilities: Ships have very low upkeep
Guardians (Act 2, Mission 3): The guardians are a race of energy beings, equipped with powerful ships and deadly KalZul weaponry. They have sworn an oath to protect the galaxy. Since they are made up of energy, their population does not consume food, though they are also not able to reward their population. They are one of the poorest races in the game.
Difficulty Setting: Hard
Special Abilities: Effective energy shield (99%), can't reward population, population does not consume food
Viral 106 (Act 2, Mission 5): The viral 106 are an organic race that behaves very similarily to a virus. They have the capability of Reverse Engineering ships of other races, making their fleets feared throughout the galaxy as they get to pick the best ships of every race. Only the collective, who have experience in capturing ships, and the guardians, who are made up of pure energy, can resist their infection ability.
Difficulty Setting: Hard (many players feel that virals are imbalanced, and deserve an easier difficulty setting)
Special abilities: Infect ships in battle (only if you win the battle), must infect colonies/planets to gain economical benefits, reverse engineer any ships (Terran, Aspha Miner and Marauder, limited to 3 per race), extra cost for building reversed engineered ships
NPC/Unfinished Races
KalZul: A powerful NPC race with powerful ships controlled by the admins. Currently only exists on the Real Time (RT) server. It tries to take over the server once every month if no one else has succeeded, as well as sell minerals on the market when there is a lack of them (much to the chagrin of the miners). Known for creating the KalZul Overmind Project, and rare artifacts with special abilites.
Dark Marauders: Unfinished. Originally intended to be available to those who have successfully set of the KalZul Overmind Project.
