Galyani Vadhana, (born 6 May 1923, London, England), is a Princess of Thailand, the eldest sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej(Rama IX). Her formal name and title is Somdej Phra Chao Pheenang Ther Chao Fa Galyani Vadhana Kromma Luang Narathiwat Rajanagarindra (loosely translated: Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, the Princess of Narathiwat).
Biography
On 24 September 1969 she married HH Varananda Dhavaj (b. 19 August 1922).The princess is heavily involved in projects under her royal patronage. Areas include the traditional Thai arts, education, sports, social welfare, etc. She is president and honorary president of various organisations and foundations, such as the Cardiac Children’s Foundation, the Princess Mother’s Charity Fund, the Autistic Foundation of Thailand, etc.
She also travels widely within Thailand and abroad to represent the royal family and her country on missions.
