Gambian dalasi

The dalasi is the currency of the Gambia. It is subdivided into 100 bututs. The dalasi was adopted in 1971. It replaced the Gambian pound at a rate of 1 pound = 5 dalasi, i.e., 1 dalasi = 0.2 pound = 4 shillings.
The first issue of coins was in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 bututs dated 1971, 1984 and 1998. The 1 dalasi coin was issued in 1987 modelled on the 50 pence coin of the United Kingdom.
Coins
Currently produced are 25 and 50 bututs and 1 dalasi. But they are of the 1998 issue along with the 1, 5 and 10 butute coins.
Banknotes
Currently produced are 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 dalasis. Historical denominations include a 1 dalasi from 1971-1987.
Current banknotes were issued in 1996 and reprinted in 2001
