García is a surname (and also a given name in medieval times) of Iberian origin, common in the Spanish language and Portuguese language. Its origin is in the Iberian words for Grace. It is one of the most common surnames used in Latin America, and also the 14th most common surname in France. Some of the alternate spellings are: Garci, Garza, Garzia and Garces.
