Gardens Point is the southerly point on the peninsula on the northern bank of the Brisbane River. The rest of the peninsula contains the Brisbane CBD.

Located on the point are Queensland's Parliament House, the Gardens Point campus of the Queensland University of Technology, the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens and Queensland's Old Government House. Brisbane's River Stage, an open air entertainment venue, is located at the southern end of the peninsula. Mangroves grow on the southern and western banks of the peninsula. The eastern bank along the Botanical Gardens contains a pedestrian promenade. Two bridges connect the point with the southern bank of the Brisbane River. These are the Captain Cook Bridge which carries vehicular traffic, and the Goodwill Bridge which is a pedestrian and cycle bridge.
