Throughout the world, officially or unofficially, certain beaches or segments of beaches on lakes or the ocean have been set aside for the enjoyment of nudists, both heterosexual and homosexual. Gay nude beaches (USA) include:

Little Beach, Maui, Hawaii
To get to Little Beach:
- Take State Route (SR) 31 from the junction of SR-310 and SR-311 in Kihei, Maui.
- Drive south for approximately eight miles before turning right onto Waikea Iki Drive.
- Drive about 0.6 mile, to the end of the road at its junction with the coastal road.
- Turn left onto the coastal road, which is Wailea Alanui Drive but soon changes to Makena Alanui.
- Continue several miles, watching for the Maui Prince Hotel, which is the last of several hotels.
- Continue a mile or so past the Maui Prince, just past a hill to a paved parking lot on the right. (There is an additional lot down the road if this one is full.)
- Park and walk to Makena Beach (a. k. a. the Big Beach), where clothed bathing is required.
- Walk to the right while facing the water to a rock outcropping at the end of the beach.
- Climb over the rocks. On the other side, the nude beach, Little Beach, awaits; at the far end of the beach, gay nudes bathe and tan themselves.
Haulover Beach, Florida
To get to Haulover Beach:
- From I-95, exit at Golden Glades Interchange onto State Road 826 east or go east on 125th Streetto Haulover County Park at 150th St. on Collins Avenue (Route A1A).
- Park in the northernmost lot.
- Walk to the beach through the tunnel underpass.
Baker Beach, San Francisco, California
To get to Baker Beach:
- Follow the signs north on Lincoln Boulevard in San Francisco. The beach is located between the SeaCliff neighborhood and the Golden Gate Bridge.
- The nude area is at the north end, which starts at the brown sign that reads "Hazardous Surf."
Lake Meade, Las Vegas, Nevada
- To get to the gay part of Lake Meade from downrown Las Vegas
- Drive North to Lake Mead Bpulevard, North Las Vegas. (This is NOT the same Lake Mead Drive as in Henderson, Nevada.)
- Drive east, past Hollywood Boulevard, through the pass at Sunrise Mountain.
- Continue about 10 miles, to a stop sign at an intersection of/fork to Overton and Hoover Dam.
- Turn left/north.
- Continue using the steps listed below, under "Continuinf from either direction."
- To get to the gay part of Lake Meade from the south side of the Las Vegas valley
- Take Boulder Highway (south) to Lake Mead Drive in Henderson.
- Turn left (east) at the red light, onto E. Lake Mead Drive/Route 147.
- Go three to four miles.
- Turn left (north) onto the road to Calville Bay.
- Continue using the steps listed below, under "Continuinf from either direction."
- Continuing from either direction
- After passing the Government Boat Launch area on the right, proceed three miles to a right onto 8.0 Mile Road (the road at the 8th mile marker, exactly 4.8 miles later from the Overton/Hoover Dam fork).
- Proceed about 2.5 miles on this gravel road, taking EVERY left when the road forks, until you reach the parking area.
- From the parking area, it is about 500 yards to the beach, following the trails up the north side of the parking area and out a ways (about a 5 minute hike).
- The protocol is still gays to the left and straights to the right.
