Gearhart

Encyclopedia : G : GE : GEA : Gearhart

Gearhart was an independent oil well service company founded by Marvin Gearhart and Harold Owen and based in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. It provided well logging and well perforating services to both domestic and international customers. It was usually supported by national oil companies as a way of preventing or breaking Schlumberger monopolies.

The downturn in the oil industry in the 1980s made things very difficult for Gearhart, and it was acquired by Halliburton on 15 October 1988 and merged with Welex Jet Services to become Halliburton Logging Services.
