The island's magnificance resumed once more for a short time when Iris lost the visual aspect of her talent. It returned to dullness when Dolph brought it to the attention of Iris.

They have since been nullified themselves. The Gap Dragon, Stanley Steamer, and his family live in the Gap, helping to protect southern Xanth from occasional invaders.

- Mundania - What we know as the "real world," Xanthians refer to Mundania with a sense of dread because of the absence of magic. Magical items and talents do not function in Mundania and magical creatures, such as crossbreeds, divide into their separate parts (a centaur divides itself into a horse and a man, etc). Xanthian language does not work in Mundania unless facilitated by other means, such as Com-Pewter's Program. The primary exception to these rules comes in the form of Arnolde Centaur's aisle of magic, which causes Xanth people, items, and talents to function normally as long as they are within the scope of the centaur aisle. Due to the Interface around Xanth, one can enter Mundania from Xanth at any point in time or place, and vice-versa.
