Georg Kaiser (1878-1945) was a highly prolific German dramatist who wrote in a variety of styles, but is best known as an expressionist, most notably for The Citizens of Calais (1914), From Morn to Midnight (1916), and a trilogy, comprised of The Coral (1917), Gas (1918), Gas II(1920). His early plays dealt with erotic and psychological topics. In his later years, Kaiser turned to social criticism of the machine and information age.
