He attended the University of South Carolina, and won the Heisman Trophy in his senior year, 1980. As a senior, Rogers led the NCAA Division 1A in rushing and was selected to the All-American team.[link]
Following Rogers' stand-out performance as a senior, Rogers was selected as the first pick of the 1980 Draft. He played 8 seasons in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and the Washington Redskins, retiring due to injury after the 1987 season.
In 1986 he led the NFL in touchdowns with 18.
