George Talbot, 4th Earl of Shrewsbury

The Right Honourable George Talbot, 4th Earl of Shrewsbury KG (c. 1468 – July 26 1538) was the son of John Talbot, 3rd Earl of Shrewsbury.
He married Anne Hastings, daughter of William Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings, and they had 11 children:
- Mary Talbot (d. April 16 1572), married Henry Percy, 6th Earl of Northumberland
- Francis Talbot, 5th Earl of Shrewsbury (c. 1500–1560)
- Margaret Talbot (d. bef. 1516), married Henry Clifford, 1st Earl of Cumberland
- Elizabeth Talbot (c. 1507 – aft. May 6 1552), married William Dacre, 3rd Baron Dacre and had issue.
- Dorothy Talbot
- Richard Talbot (no issue)
- Henry Talbot (d. v.p.)
- John Talbot (d. young)
- John Talbot (also d. young)
- William Talbot (no issue; Marshal of Ireland?)
- Lucy Talbot
- Anne Chetwynd-Talbot (March 18, 1523 – July 18, 1588), married first Peter Compton (d. January 30, 1544) and had one son, Henry Compton, 1st Baron Compton; married second William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke.
George Talbot had Sheffield Manor built in 1516 to serve as a country retreat. Thomas Cardinal Wolsey stayed here as Talbot's guest on his way to face trial for treason in 1530. In 1520 he had a chapel added to the parish church at Sheffield to serve as a family chapel with a burial vault below. A monument to Talbot and his two wives can still be seen in the church (now Sheffield Cathedral).
