The 6th Parachute Division was incorporated into the 9th Army of General Busse in 1945 to defend the Oder-Neisse front against Soviet Marshal Georgy Zhukov around the Seelow Heights. Hermann Göring sent the Kurmark panzer division to rally them after a breakthrough. Effectively controlled by Göring, they were an official part of Army Group Vistula.
