German order of precedence

order of precedence is a symbolic hierarchy of officials in the Government of Germany used to direct protocol. It has no official status, but has been established in practical use.
- The President, currently Horst Köhler.
- The President of Parliament, currently Norbert Lammert.
- The Chancellor, currently Angela Merkel.
- The President of the Federal Council, also acting as deputy to the President, currently Peter Harry Carstensen, Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein.
- The President of the Federal Constitutional Court, currently Hans-Jürgen Papier.
