Gertrude Vachon is a Canadian professional wrestler better known as Luna Vachon. She is the daughter of "The Butcher" Paul Vachon and the niece of "Mad Dog" Maurice Vachon and Vivian Vachon. She is married to fellow wrestler David Heath, who is best known as Gangrel.
Career
Luna entered the World Wrestling Federation in April 1993 at WrestleMania IX, accompanying then Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels in his match against Tatanka, who was accompanied by Michaels' former valet Sensational Sherri. After the match Luna attacked Sherri at ringside and later in the first aid area, starting off a vicious feud between the two ladies. Soon after this, Bam Bam Bigelow announced that he had fallen in love and presented Luna as his "main squeeze". Bam Bam was seen blowing kisses to Luna at the end of each match, and in her honour he even included the Moonsault into his repertoire. Before that, Bam Bam had got into a confrontation with Sherri as well and was attacked by Tatanka, leading to a feud between the two men. A mixed tag team between the two pairs was planned for SummerSlam 1993, but had to be cancelled because Luna injured her arm and Sherri left the WWF shortly afterwards. Instead, Bigelow and The Headshrinkers fought and lost to Tatanka and The Smoking Gunns.
In autumn 1993, Bam Bam and Luna ran afoul some of Doink The Clown's practical jokes, leading to a match at Survivor Series 1993 pitting Bam Bam, The Head Shrinkers and Bastion Booger against four Doinks, none of which were the actual Doink. The match ended in a ridiculing defeat for Bam Bam. During that time Luna was the cause of dissension between Bam Bam and his part-time tag team partner Bastion Booger, who had fallen in love with her. At WrestleMania X, Bam Bam and Luna finally got their revenge on Doink by beating the Clown and his midget side-kick Dink in a mixed tag team match.
After the WWF's women's division had been revived, Luna tried to win the title and had a series of matches with then champion Alundra Blayze, all resulting in victories for Blayze. During that time the relationship between Luna and Bam Bam showed first cracks after an interference into a match backfired. In summer Luna sold Bam Bam's contract to Ted DiBiase, who was beginning to build his "Million Dollar Corporation" stable.
Luna invested the money to bring Japanese wrestler Bull Nakano, aiming at wrestling the Women's title from Alundra Blayze. Though Nakano dominated Blayze in their matches, including one at SummerSlam 1994, Blayze managed to retain her title. However, on November 20, 1994 Nakano succeeded in defeating Blayze in a match in Tokyo, Japan.
On Halloween 1995, Luna married fellow wrestler David Heath, whose manager she had been for some time. The WWF broadcast a segment featuring Luna's midnight wedding to a vampire (played by Heath). Late in November she left the WWF.
After WWF
In 1995 she wrestled in ECW, managing Tommy Dreamer and feuding with Raven, Stevie Richards and her husband, The Vampire Warrior. In early 1997, she appeared in WCW, again going after her rival Alundra Blayze, who had returned to WCW under her old moniker Madusa.
Second WWF stint
In November 1997, Luna returned to the WWF as the new valet to Goldust, re-inventing him as The Artist formerly known as Goldust. He started dressing up as different people, being Shaftdust etc.The two feuded with Marc Mero and Sable. In May 1998, Luna and Goldust parted ways with Luna going on to join the Oddities for a while before renewing her feud with Sable over the newly reinstated WWF Women's Championship. Shane McMahon personally supported Luna's efforts to win the championship after taking personal offence to Sable's attitude towards him. This led to a Leather Strap match at the 1999 Royal Rumble. Despite the odds against Sable, she successfully retained the title due to interference from Tori who, at the time, was an obsessed fan. Luna was due to challenge Sable for another title shot several weeks later at the WWF St. Valentine's Day Massacre PPV but the match was cancelled due to Luna's suspension for unruly behaviour backstage.
Six months later, Luna returned at the SummerSlam PPV, chasing the then Women's Champion Ivory backstage after a successful title defence against Tori. This started a feud between the two which culminated in a Hardcore Rules Match at the WWF Unforgiven PPV which Luna lost. From then on, Luna reassumed her role as manager for husband Gangrel, participating in several intergender tag team matches and helping Gangrel get the win over his opponents. In February 2000, it was announced that Luna had been released from her contract due to allegedly taping the mouth of a producer shut, an act which she described as a "joke".
Post WWE
Vachon continues to manage Gangrel during his independent tours all over the world, as well as wrestling on her own in many Women's promotions. The pair are currently wrestling with the All-Star Promotions of the United Kingdom.
There are reports that the WWE has contacted Luna and her husband David "Gangrel" Heath to be a part of the planned vampire stable on the revived ECW brand.
