Go (Monopoly)
Encyclopedia : G : GO : GOM : Go (Monopoly)
Go (or GO) is the starting position of the Monopoly board game, in one corner of the board.
Players passing the Go square would automatically gain $200. Passing Go then going to jail would still reap the salary, however, if one is sent to jail "without passing Go", no money is given. If a player passes Go, then gains a 'chance' or 'community chest' card and is directed to move to Go again, he or she receives $400. Also, if a player receives a 'chance' or 'community chest' card and is directed to move to a space before that 'chance' or 'community chest' space, it is assumed that the player moves all the way around the board to reach that space and so passes Go and collects $200.
