Gojra

Gojra is a Pakistani city located near Faisalabad. It is located at almost 50 Km from Faisalabad.It has a history of more than hundred years and named after the bigger populations of "Gujjars" a cast( gruop of people that is primarily involved for the upbringing and handling the cattles (Cows) and being the centre of the cultivated lands, the city was famous for its "Mandi"(market) for the cash crops. The market was mainly handled by the Hindus and Sikhs that was lately captured by the Muslims after the emergence of Pakistan. Gojra became famous in the Pakistan after contributing a number of players to the Pakistan Hockey team. Two person name Iqbal Bali and Muhammad Aslam ( famous as Aslam Roda) served in the Pakistan hockey team initially when returned back to their city, they organized their own hockey teams and the young lot of the city found the trained coaches free of cost and when their teams used to have their final competition annually there used to be a scene of life and death every year. This actually created a nursery for the Pakistan hockey team and many of the Pakistan hockey team players happened to be the originally trained from this institution.

It has a population of more than 100,000 and is known for its hockey players. It has contibuted players like Manzoor-ul-hasan Rasheed-ul-hasan Tahir Zaman. The people of Gojra are very famous for their hospitality, but at the same time long life fights between the people of different castes settled in Gojra are also known to the people.
