The Golden Mile is a stretch of beach with golden sands in Durban South Africa stretching from Vetchies Pier in the south, to the newly constructed Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World in the north. It is one of the main tourist attractions in the Durban area and provides many locations for sun worshippers to lounge, play games and enjoy the restaurants scattered along the mile. Famous hotels on, or near the mile include the Maharani Hotel and the Royal Hotel.
Attractions include:
- Blue Lagoon, a popular hangout / picnic / fishing spot, especially among Indians
- Mini Town with a miniature replica of Durban, complete with train tracks and working train and airport.
- The Snake Park with a large collection of reptiles and snakes.
- Traditional market vendors and other hawkers with a selection of Zulu art and crafts.
- Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World, a casino complex with a private beach
- uShaka Marine World aquarium, water park, dolphinarium, and contains the restaurant with the largest shark tank in the world.
- North Beach, Dairy Beach, the Bay of Plenty and Snake Park beaches are popular surfing beaches separated by the piers.
- The Skate Park in front of the Bay of Plenty caters for skateboarders, roller bladers and BMX'ers.
