Encyclopedia : G : GO : GOO : Goodwood railway station, Adelaide
Goodwood railway station is the last common railway station of the Noarlunga Centre and Tonsley, and the Belair lines, travelling away from Adelaide. The Belair line diverges southeast towards Millswood (closed)and Unley Park Station, while the Noarlunga Centre and Tonsley lines diverge southwest towards Clarence Park. Also immediately south of Goodwood station is where the famous Glenelg tram line crosses over the railway lines. It is located at on the border of Goodwood and Forestville, 5.0 km by rail from Adelaide Railway Station.
Goodwood station has platforms for all the broad gauge metropolitan tracks, but is bypassed by the standard gauge line to Melbourne which follows the alignment of the Belair line. Beyond Goodwood, the standard gauge track is where the western track from Belair to Goodwood used to be (it is now only a single track of each gauge).
Goodwood station is the main railway station servicing the Royal Adelaide Show.
