Goshen High School is the local high school of Goshen, Indiana, in the United States. Their mascot, the Redskins, has recently come under scrutiny for its racial implications. They've competed in Class 5A athletics since 2001.
Music
Goshen High School has boasted one of the top music programs in the state of Indiana, with the band, orchestra and choir all challenging at state competition. The marching band competed in 14 straight Class B state competitions before their move to Class A in 2001. Since then the band has steadily been moving up in the state rankings, and in 2005 just barely missed state competition. Goshen constantly sends students to the ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble competitions from all three major musical groups. Probably the most impressive aspect of the Goshen music program is the percussion ensemble led by Chris Smith. Since its inception in 2002, the group has climbed through the ranks at an astounding rate, winning state competition in its first year, and then winning the WGI 2005 Open Class World Championship.Academics
Goshen High School is a public school which has a very impressive science department that carries one of the few genetics/ethics courses in Indiana, and a trip to the Florida Keys for a marine biology excursion that students from schools within the entire Michiana area attend.
