Gowning
Encyclopedia : G : GO : GOW : Gowning
Gowning refers to dressing in a jumpsuit prior to entering a cleanroom. The jumpsuit prevents dandruff, hair and other unseen particles from falling off of the body.
Procedures for gowning will vary with manufacturing application. The following is one example:
- Hands are washed and dried, with no water droplets left on the hands.
- A clean jumpsuit is selected and donned.
- Boots are put on.
- A mask and shower cap are donned. No hair should escape from the cap. The nose and mouth should be completely covered.
- Gloves are put on.
- The hood of the jumpsuit is put over the head and zipped.
- A mirror is used to check for unintended exposure of skin or hair.
- The worker enters a blower room, which blows off any residual particulate matter
