Grüssau Abbey
Encyclopedia : G : GR : GRS : Grüssau Abbey
Grüssau Abbey or Grüssau Monastery (in German Abtei Grüssau) is a house of the Benedictine Order now located at Bad Wimpfen in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.
When after World War I the German monks of the Emaus Abbey in Prague were obliged to leave the city, they resettled in 1919 in the former Cistercian monastery of Grüssau in Silesia.
The monastery was suspended during World War II. Although it was returned to the monks after the end of the war, they were expelled from Silesia shortly afterwards. In 1947 the community occupied the former Ritterstift in Wimpfen.
Three monks still remained in the community in 2005.
