Grant Thornton LLP encompasses the US operations of Grant Thornton International, one of the largest accounting organizations outside of the Big Four (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers). The firm has about 50 US offices. In addition to auditing, Grant Thornton provides its customers with such services as Sarbanes-Oxley expertise, mergers and acquisitions advice, tax services, management consulting, and business valuations. Target industries include construction, consumer products, financial services, government contracting, public sector and quasi governmental organizations, not-for-profit organizations, and technology. Founded by Alexander R. Grant in 1924, the firm became Grant Thornton in 1986 when it joined with the UK firm Thornton Baker.
