Encyclopedia : G : GR : GRE : Greater Middlesbrough
Greater Middlesbrough is an un-official, local term for areas immediately surrounding the official boundaries of Middlesbrough that are not included within its official administrative boundaries. These areas include the greater Eston area, Port Clarence & parts of North Yorskshire (Great Ayton, Maltby, Newby). The areas have either been part of a Middlesbrough district/borough in the past and have subsequently been removed to another administrative area or they are physically linked by the Urban sprawl. The total population for the Greater Middlesbrough area is over 220,000.
