Greater Northdale is an unincorporated census-designated place in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 20,461 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Greater Northdale is located at [28°5′58″N, 82°31′31″W] (28.099431, -82.525370)[Geographic references#1GR1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 21.9 km² (8.4 mi²). 20.5 km² (7.9 mi²) of it is land and 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²) of it (6.51%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[Geographic references#2GR2] of 2000, there were 20,461 people, 7,597 households, and 5,545 families residing in the community. The population density was 1,000.0/km² (2,591.0/mi²). There were 7,849 housing units at an average density of 383.6/km² (993.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the community was 85.69% White, 5.62% African American, 0.22% Native American, 3.67% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 2.37% from other races, and 2.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.02% of the population.

There were 7,597 households out of which 38.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.0% were non-families. 20.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.12.

In the community the population was spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 92.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.1 males.

The median income for a household in the community was $58,356, and the median income for a family was $65,356. Males had a median income of $41,150 versus $31,267 for females. The per capita income for the community was $25,579. About 3.0% of families and 4.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.1% of those under age 18 and 7.9% of those age 65 or over.
