Greatest Hits is Aerosmith's first standard "greatest hits" compilation album. It went multi-platinum and contained some of the hits that made the band an icon of the 1970s rock era. A couple of remastered versions of Greatest Hits appeared in the 1990s and were considered responsible for the band's popular rejuvenation in that decade.

Only one song from this album, "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" seems to have lost its popularity since 1980, despite its quality.
