Green Card is a 1990 romantic comedy directed by Peter Weir.
The film stars Gérard Depardieu, Andie MacDowell, Bebe Neuwirth, Gregg Edelman and Ethan Phillips. It received an Academy Award nomination in the category Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
The plot involves George Faure (Depardieu), a frenchman, and Bronte Parrish (MacDowell), who initially form a marriage purely for convenience. George is attempting to obtain a "Green Card", while Bronte "requires" a husband to secure an apartment. Somehow, they end up falling in love.
