Greenisland is a small commuter town in County Antrim, 7 miles to the east of Belfast, Northern Ireland on the northern shore of Belfast Lough in the borough of Carrickfergus. It had a population of 5,050 people in the 2001 Census. It has a rail link to Belfast on the main Larne line. It borders Jordanstown and its University of Ulster campus.

Greenisland Urban Area is a small town within Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area (BMUA), as classified by the [NI Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA)] (ie with population between 4,500 and 10,000 people). On Census day (29 April 2001) there were 5,050 people living in Greenisland. Of these:
