Encyclopedia : G : GU : GUI : Guide Entries
The Guide Entries are four sound recordings available on the iTunes Music Store, read by Stephen Fry, set to music by Joby Talbot and written by Tim Browse and Sean Sollé (with the exception of the How to be Cool entry, which was also co-written by Yoz Grahame). They were released to promote the Hollywood movie version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A fifth, the Guide to Fanboys, was released only as text (see below) and a sixth, the Guide to Websites, can be heard on the official UK movie website.
Guide to Technology
The "Hitchhiker's Guide to Technology" discusses technology, armchairs, and tea.
It introduces the cup of tea test, a method of determining whether one is using technology. The procedure is as follows.
- Make yourself a cup of tea.
- Attempt to use the suspected technology.
- If your tea is cold by the time you have managed to get the object or service working properly, you are almost certainly dealing with some form of technology.
Guide to Blogging

Guide to Deadlines

Guide to How to be Cool
- This entry discusses how an individual can truly be cool, instead of by following crowds, but concludes by suggesting the listener attend a showing of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Guide to Fanboys
- According to the [exclusive news] from comingsoon.net, this was a fifth entry released by Touchstone Pictures as part of their promotion of the movie with the other four entries above. However, this entry is not available as sound recording on the iTunes Music Store.
