Gular pouch

The gular pouch or gular patch is an unfeathered flap of very elastic skin located between the lower jaws of certain avian theropods (birds). Many members of the Order Pelecaniformes, for example, have prominant gular pouches, as did the Early Cretaceous ornithomimosaur Pelecanimimus. The adjective "gular" may be translated as "pertaining to the throat," and comes from the same Latin root "gullet." The gular pouch is generally used to store fish and other prey while hunting.
