Hêdonê
Encyclopedia : H : HD : HDO : Hêdonê
Greek word meaning pleasure. Also the goal of the philosophy presented by Epicurus. Root of the English word, Hedonism.
The word as Epicurus used it was meant to imply the quest for pleasure that would have only good consequences. Whereas the word pleasure does not generally conote this extra meaning. This regard for consequences does not tend to appear in most forms of Hedonism either.
