HD 63454 is a dim tenth magnitude star in the constellation of Chamaeleon. It is an orange dwarf (spectral type K4 V), and is somewhat cooler and less luminous than our Sun. To see the star one needs a small telescope. It is located near the south Celestial pole and is never visible north of latitude 20° N.
HD 63454 b
HD 63454 b is an extrasolar planet orbiting the star HD 63454. It is at least a third as massive as Jupiter and orbits the star in a very close "torch orbit", even closer than the famous 51 Pegasi b.
