HLF can stand for: In medical terminology, this can also be a discriminatory phrase that stands for "Hysterical Latin Female". It is a reference to the sometimes overdramatized reactions that Latin women can have to just about any situation, medical or not. This is generally a hyperbole and is not true in all cases, as doctors and other medical personnel feel the need for oversimplification.
