HMS Thunderer

Six ships of the British Royal Navy have been called HMS Thunderer:
- The first Thunderer was a 74-gun third-rate launched in 1760 and wrecked 1780.
- The second Thunderer was a 14-gun ketch built on the Canadian lakes in 1776, but whose fate is unknown.
- The third Thunderer was a 74-gun third-rate launched in 1783 and broken up 1814. She fought at the Nile and Trafalgar.
- The fourth Thunderer was an 84-gun second-rate launched in 1831, used as a target after 1863, renamed Comet and then Nettle, and sold in 1901.
- The fifth Thunderer was an ironclad turretship designed by Edward James Reed with a revolving turret, launched in 1872. Her boiler exploded in 1876, killing over forty sailors. She was refited with 4x12 Whitehead 16" (406 mm) torpedoes and used as a training ship, she was sold in 1909.
- The sixth Thunderer was an Orion-class battleship launched in 1911. She served in World War I, fought at the battle of Jutland, and was sold in 1926.
- One of the 42,500-ton Lion class battleships was to be named Thunderer to be laid down in 1939 but construction was suspended in October of that year and cancelled in 1944.
