HP Pavilion (computer)
Encyclopedia : H : HP : HPP : HP Pavilion (computer)
HP Pavilion is a line of personal computers produced by Hewlett-Packard and introduced in 1995. The name is applied to both desktops and laptops, which is unusual because most manufacturers treat their desktop and laptop products as separate product lines. For example, Dell has two desktop lines, Dimension and OptiPlex, and two separate laptop lines, Inspiron and Latitude.
When HP merged with Compaq, and took over Compaq's existing naming rights agreement. Hp sells both Hp and Compaq brands. One can order a computer direct from the factory over the internet (see hp.com) or over the phone. One can customize the computer by choosing what specifications are desired. In Europe, HP allows the option of installing Ubuntu on certain laptops instead of Microsoft Windows.
