Hachimantai (八幡平市; -shi) is a city located in Iwate, Japan.
The city was founded on September 1, 2005 from the merger of the towns of Ashiro and Nishine and the village of Matsuo, all from Iwate District . As of its founding, the city has an estimated population of 31,751 and the density of 107.96 persons per km². The total area is 862.25 km².
