Hadal zone
Encyclopedia : H : HA : HAD : Hadal zone
The Hadal zone is the deepest part of the ocean. Any region greater than 6,000 meters (19,700 feet) below the surface of the ocean is in the hadal zone. This zone, which includes the ocean trenches, is virtually unexplored. Few organisms live in the hadal zone; those that do depend on food falling from above.
The word "hadal" is related to the word Hades, meaning "underworld".
