A Hamd (Arabic: حمد) is a poem or song in praise of God. A hamd is usually written in either Arabic, Persian, or Urdu. Sung hamd can be found in qawwali performances.Hamd comes from Koran which muslims believe as the God's word. it is equivalent to the word "Praise" in English language. "All things praise you (Allah)" (Quran)
Hamd is sung all over the muslim world from Indonesia to Morroco. However in the past few years, Pakistan had been the hub for Hamds. Qari Waheed Zafar is one of the famous Hamd singers. Modern English singers of a hamd are Yusuf Islam and Sami Yusuf.
