Handsfree

Handsfree is the name of equipment to use a mobile phone without hands when talking. In some countries it is obligatory to use handsfree when using the mobile while driving. However, studies have shown that even while using a hands-free phone, there is still a much higher risk of collision.
In a new law introduced in the United Kingdom in 2003, it is illegal to use a Mobile phone while driving. [[Citing sources citation needed]] Similar laws have been adopted in New York, Connecticut and Washington, DC. Many of these laws make provisions for the use of handsfree devices in vehicles. By now (may 2006), handheld use of a mobile whilst driving is illegal in the majority of western Europe. In the Netherlands, fines are at the same level of the price of a professionally installed handsfree set.
Handsfree equipment are also available for normal phones, in both wired and wireless models.
Handsfree devices usually connect through a 2.5mm "submini" Tip ring sleeve connector.
